My name is Jan-Henrik Soisalo. I was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and have a Finnish citizenship. I have studied in a couple of bi-lingual schools in Sao Paulo: Graded (an American School) and St. Paul's School (a British School), from where I graduated. After having graduated from St. Paul's, I went to London to study at UCL, Anthropology/Egyptian Archaeology. During my first year, I changed my mind and ended up getting a Degree in Audio Engineering at SAE (School of Audio Engineering). After 5 years, I moved back to Sao Paulo where I worked in studios recording and producing semi-professional and professional bands. This then lead me to Advertising, where I worked as a Sound Designer, Producer and Account Manager for about 5 years. Due to the economic crisis in Brazil, I eventually had to change careers and became a private English teacher both In-Company and Private Lessons. I have been giving private English lessons for the last 5 years to teenagers and adults. I have also been giving Business English Online lessons to four different online companies. Due to the pandemic, I have been giving my lessons online and it has been working great. I really enjoy being able to help teens and adults in such a crucial language for their future, as today, speaking English is not only a plus, but a definite must. I have also been working with freelance translation and written and proofreading material in both English and Portuguese for the last few years.
